Patti Mickey

Establishing Mickey’s Majorettes in 1992, Patti Mickey had the goal of sharing her love of baton twirling. While it started with a small group marching in local parades and recitals, it has grown to be a top twirling program. Having started with humble beginnings, Mickey’s Majorettes has evolved to home many State, Regional, and National champions.

Patti Mickey was the “Golden Girl” (Feature Twirler) for Colorado State University from 1976 - 1980. Patti was trained by Judy Strecker who was a student of Don Sartell – the founder of the National Baton Twirling Association. Because of this, Mickey’s Majorettes considers Don Sartell to be their twirling great grandfather.

Having a teaching background, Patti has many philosophies she uses in teaching her twirlers. She focuses on teaching the whole student by sharing life skills in addition to twirling technique. While highlighting the strengths of each twirler, she works to make sure everyone is able to meet the goals that they set.

Mickey’s Majorettes philosophy can be summed up in two words: Grit and Grace. We work to have the Grit to train like a professional athlete, and to have the Grace to practice sportsmanship and humility.

A licensed NBTA judge, Patti judges all across the country and is highly respected by her peers. She currently lives in The Woodlands, Texas with her husband, Jon and their dogs Charlie and Graci.
